Leather motorcycle jacket

Three looks with unusual leather jackets

Biker jackets entered  pop culture back in the 1940s and  1950s in America, when perfecto motorcycle jackets (known to us as leather jackets) paired with rolled-up Levi’s jeans were worn by young men who considered themselves part of the rebellious greaser or glamorizer subculture. We all remember their cinematic embodiment in the characters of James Dean, Marlon Brando and young Johnny Depp in the more modern John Waters film Cry-Baby. In the  1970s , when the underground punk rock movement emerged on the American music scene , motorcycle jackets established themselves as an integral part of rock musicians for a hundred years to come. Nowadays, biker leather jackets have become an indispensable element of the fall and spring wardrobe, regardless of age and gender. This season, the classic biker jacket has undergone a number of metamorphoses, but remains just as versatile. Let’s figure out what alternative versions of the classic leather jacket we will wear this spring and what to combine them with.

Vinyl motorcycle jacket with flared jeans

Motorcycle jackets in bright colors have become the main trend of the spring-summer shows . The cropped Courrèges jacket made of carrot-colored vinyl leather, on the one hand, meets the requirements of the times, but at the same time, it embodies a timeless French classic. In  the 1960s, Françoise Hardy wore such a motorcycle jacket with flared jeans, and all European starlets imitated her. Now a similar motorcycle jacket can be worn in the same 60s style , only now it is better to combine it not with classic flares, but with cropped jeans and ankle boots in the same tone as the denim.

Motorcycle Jacket with Bra Top

The motorcycle racing jacket with the Marlboro patch was once at the peak of popularity even among people who have nothing to do with either the tobacco company or racing. The motorcycle jacket with voluminous shoulders inspired by the popular wardrobe element of the 2000s is best combined with minimalist items in the spring season, for example, with loose light-colored straight-cut trousers and sandals on a small platform. In especially warm weather, such a jacket can be thrown over a bra-top , which will be indispensable this summer.

Leather jacket with wide trousers

A straight-cut black leather jacket with asymmetrical details will go with absolutely everything, but it’s best to stick to a minimalist style and combine it with another trend of this spring — wide trousers and a turtleneck. The total black look can be diluted with accessories — for example, a large mono earring, which looks especially good with a high collar.

Many stylish things come to a woman’s wardrobe from a “man’s shoulder”. And biker jackets are no exception. Leather jackets, as they are also called, serve as an excellent tool for creating a fatal image. Such jackets have not ceased to be a trend for several decades. And therefore, every fashionista should definitely have one or even several models in her arsenal. And we will tell you how to choose and what to wear a leather biker jacket with!

Peculiarities

This wardrobe item at one time became a real symbol of free spirit. The absolute boom of biker motorcycle jackets came in the 1950-1960s. Then they finally became entrenched in the consciousness of the world community as an attribute of a seasoned and reckless motorcyclist.

They appeared much earlier. The first leather jacket was released in 1928. This was preceded by an innovative proposal from the workers of the American company Schott, which specialized in sewing leather jackets. By the way, the company was founded by the sons of an emigrant from Russia (in 1913). And so, in the 1920s, the use of a zipper on outerwear was first tried there. Thus, the seed was laid for biker jackets, the sewing of which began in 1928.

How to Wear Motorcycle Jackets and Bombers for Guys and Girls

To understand how and with what to combine a bomber or motorcycle jacket, you need to determine how authentic, in our case, biker-like, you want to look and for what purpose. And, of course, remember that any subculture does not like too familiar flirting.

If you are not a member of the iron horse fraternity, do not buy overtly biker wardrobe items: protective gear in the form of jackets and pants with special inserts or vests made of “unruly” hard leather, which are the distinctive attributes of club bikers and motorcyclists who strive to join their ranks.

It’s expensive, and you can get into an embarrassing situation when communicating with the bearers of motorcycle culture. It’s better to choose stylizations and adaptations a la biker aesthetics.

Motorcycle jackets, which are the trend of the current and next years, in designers’ collections are conventionally related to two directions within one subculture: motorcycle jackets with a reference to track protective clothing and motorcycle jackets of rockers of the late twentieth century. The first are about dynamics, speed, some futurism as a desire to overtake time. And the second are about rebellion against the established picture of the world.
